Welcome to the ASAI Africa Societies. Africa societies are at the heart of ASAI as a student and alumni association. ASAI came up and rolled out the idea of Africa societies in Irish colleges to serve as grassroots branches of the ASAI.
Since setting up the first Africa society in Dublin Business School in 2011 the number of Africa society grew exponentially. Currently there are 16 Africa societies which include some of old societies such as the Trinity College Africa society which took the name Africa society in April, 2015.

Aims and objective of Africa societies:
- To be a focal point of all students and staff from Ireland and different parts of the world to experience and celebrate African rich cultural heritage (Music, Dance, Food, Literature, Film and Art, etc.) throughout the college calendar.
- To be focal point of African students to associate with other students in college and share the richness of Africa culture, history and geography.
- Engage in intellectual and other kinds of discussions, debates and development and education exchange, activities about various topics and issues concerning Africa, its countries and people and its engagement with other part of the world.
- To provide a bridge between the active African community and organizations in Ireland and Africa in cultural and development affairs.
- To be link to the network of other AFRICA SOCIETIES in other colleges in Ireland and worldwide.
- To cooperate with all other societies, departments and organizations to contribute to the intercultural and international students’ and staff experience and exchange in college nationally and globally.
- To stimulate inter-cultural integration among students within the college and the community at large.
- To assist members in their pursuit of education.
- To link African Students and members of the society with African Students Association of Ireland (ASAI) which supports Africa Societies in all colleges in Ireland and other countries.

At ASAi we have whole team of students and alumni who work together to coordinate and support work of Africa societies in colleges, universities and institutes here in Ireland. The department assists African and non-African students to set up Africa societies within their institution and aid them in carrying out their various programs. The department also serves as the network centre for all African societies, coordinating the societies for major joint events.
